All adults should get the Tdap vaccine at least once to protect against pertussis if they didn’t get the vaccine as an adolescent (licensed in 2005). Immunity from our childhood doses wanes over time, so we need this adult booster. Although we may not get as sick as an infant, we don’t want to spread the infection to those most vulnerable.
